Meditation. Are there multiple forms of it?

Yes. There are multiple forms of meditation. I have heard when people drive very fast, it is a form of meditation to them. When I read books, it is a form of meditation to me. Same is the case when I am photographing or editing a photograph. Its not the case when I am video editing. I quite hate it.

But cinematography, I love. These are my forms of meditation. What are yours?

Why do we need to practice medidation?

Meditation in any form helps us calm our mind. Situations when time slows by, mind slows down. If you’ve ever experienced that, you have done meditation.

During my travels I have had the chance of trying out mind altering substances. It too forces the mind to slow down. Not saying this is the meditation we should try out first.

In a chaotic digital world that we live in today, keeping our mind glued to something, embracing boredom is very very very difficult. Extremely difficult. I suffer from it too. Mindfulness, getting attuned with your body is the only solution.

Once the mind is calm, the world becomes slow. You can observe each and every detail of a particular situation with a magnifying lens. As an observer of life, I absolutely dig this. Practicing meditation helps build a connected mind body system.

Where to start?

Easiest is breathing exercises. That can be done anywhere. Quite literally anywhere. When you are in your office, sitting in the couch. Just noticing how the air flows in and out of your nose. Try to feel and then visualise how the oxygen is getting absorbed in the blood. Just concentrate on your breathwork.

Elevation of this mindfulness technique can be done through various activities which forces you to be very mindful. Being in the present. Like I had mentioned earlier. Some may find that in driving, riding, writing, reading. Medications can be practiced in many forms.

Once you start the journey of meditation you will be able to understand the significance of it very quickly. The first of many revelations? The answer lies within the question.

Which form of meditation would you start with?

I would love to know if you practice any sort of medtation in your daily life. Would be keen to hear.
