Everyday doing the same work for the past few weeks. It is inevitable that one feels boring doing the routine tasks day in and day out. I felt nothing different.
Friday, 24th April, 2026: I logged into the remote workstation as scheduled at 4:30PM IST.
Till about 7PM I did all the boring admin related work that I had to complete. Yet, after 2.5 hours of concentrated efforts I still found myself completing only 5% of all the admin work that I needed to finish. The mind and the body was not getting aligned to work on the ‘boring’ admin work.
That’s when I decided to perform a neat little experiment. Why not play a small game. Its a Friday after all. I messaged all the 15+ team members on microsoft teams and asked if they could give me 5-7 mins of their time.
I wanted to ask them
“From whatever you know about me, my nature, my attitude, what in your opinion should I be selling?”
The answers given by team members came out to be fascinating, interesting and insightful. I would need sometime before I can edit the video I am producing, but let me list down few of the things which my teammates felt I can go ahead and sell.
- Couple of Individuals mentioned I can sell anything (it was a huge compliment to me. I am flattered)
- Few individuals mentioned I should become a therapist. People feel comfortable talking to me.
- 1 person mentioned I should go into socio activism as I talk with a lot of passion
- Someone mentioned I should be able to sell Education and Creative Endevours
- One team member mentioned I should be selling how to formulate your creative capacity and then monitising it. He summarized by saying I can work really well at the juncture of journalism, education and creativity.
The answers above as you can see are so varied. And I did not even list all the answers. Once the video gets ready, I will share an update on this post.
I am writing this on the 28th of April, 2026, in the afternoon at 3PM. The city of Kolkata is in vote frenzy mode. Tomorrow we have the 2nd half of the elections for the West Bengal Assembly.
I learnt 2+1 important lessons while doing this experiment.
- These experiments should be done with a much more increased frequency
- Gathering feedback from team members helped me understand how my team think of me.
- Elevating this experiment to client where I ask this exact same question, can come up with interesting insights too.
- If I ever end up doing that, I will update in this article too.
Till next time on some life’s experiment. Presently need to get back and finish off all the admin work that has been pending since last week.
Thanks
